Native America Project

Lately I have been exploring my native Mi’kmaq ancestry and have been very inspired to begin this project! We are creating a HUGE section of mainland (about 300 SL size regions) that will be mostly wilderness, meant to represent the northeast United States and Canada hundreds of years ago, before European contact. There will be lots of educational sites depicting traditional native life.

I hope to incorporate Algonquin / Mi’kmaq language into the signs and exhibits, as I slowly learn the language. Some of the exhibits will include everyday crafts such as wigwam/house building, creating a canoe, fishing, hunting… identifying bird songs and calls, and a special project about oyster reef restoration efforts happing today, that will greatly improve water quality, and help protect coastlines from storms and rising sea levels.
